The CRUISE SHIPS clientele is younger and CRUISES are no longer for grand-mothers only. Everyday, almost 20 CRUISE SHIPS arrive to the CAYMAN ISLANDS; the PASSENGERS of these CRUISE SHIPS out-number the 36,000 persons living in this ISLAND. The CRUISE industry has become a real profitable industry. CRUISE SHIPS welcomed 5 million PASSENGERS in 1992: 7 years later, in 1999, they had 9.5 million PASSENGERS: and they had 20 million PASSENGERS in 2005.

INFORMATIONS

You don’t need to have any experience to fill any of the following positions. And you don’t need to have a very good knowledge of the ENGLISH LANGUAGE to fill one of these positions.

Bar Assistant
Coffeeman / Coffeewoman

NOTE: For these two positions, speaking a few words in ENGLISH LANGUAGE is sufficient.

Busboy / Busgirl
Snack / Buffet Steward / Stewardess
Waiter / Waitress Assistant

NOTE: For the above mentioned positions, having a functional knowledge of the ENGLISH LANGUAGE is sufficient.

If your supervisor judges that you are a good employee, he will give you more important tasks. The five above mentioned positions offer good chances for promotions.

If you are recruited for one of the mentioned positions or for any other position that you more or less like, and after 2 to 3 weeks you don't have any change regarding your position, do not hesitate to ask your supervisor or the personnel representative on the ship for the position of your choice.

If they can't give you the position requested by you on the ship where you are, they can transfer you to another ship belonging to their company. Each MARITIME AGENCY has several CRUISE SHIPS.

CONTRACTS

The CONTRACTS are for 3 or 6 months renewable. At the end of each CONTRACT you will have one to two month vacations.

If for any reason, you don't want to remain on the CRUISE SHIP you may return home. In that case, you will have to pay your return TRANSPORTATION.

TRANSPORTATION & UNIFORMS

Most recruiters pay the TRANSPORTATION from your residence to the port of the CRUISE SHIP where ever it is; they also pay the TRANSPORTATION at the end of your CONTRACT and for VACATIONS.

They also pay the UNIFORMS when they are required.

Some recruiters don't pay the TRANSPORTATION and the UNIFORMS, however, they give other monetary compensations.

Other recruiters pay a large percentage of the TRANSPORTATION cost.

So, when you receive the employment offers from the recruiters, you will have a choice and will be able to decide which offer to accept and which one to refuse.

You can have an interview in MONTREAL or in TORONTO.

They can call you and held the interview right away on the phone.

They can contact you and fix an appointment with you for your telephone interview.

They can send to you by mail a form to fill out. Always remember that they have your RESUME. So, when you fill out the form, it must be in accordance with the RESUME already sent to them.

And they can also send you an offer by mail.

SALARY PAYMENTS

The MARITIME AGENCIES pay you every 2 weeks. There are3 different methods of payment:

There is a BANK on every CRUISE SHIP. Everything is paid in US$ on the CRUISE SHIPS.

When you are sure that you will be working on a CRUISE SHIP and you have your contract in hand, you should open an account in US$ at your BANK – so as to be able to make money transfers.

ON THE CRUISE SHIPS ARE THE FOLLOWING:

We send your RESUME by mail to the largest MARITIME AGENCIES, and to the largest EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES that recruit personnel for the MARITIME AGENCIES. Most of the positions are not recruited directly by the MARITIME AGENCIES, but by the EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES.

For each position in each department in each MARITIME AGENCY, we know who recruits who. So, when we send a RESUME to someone, we are sending the RESUME to the right people.

After sending your RESUME, we will give you the list of all the companies that we sent your RESUME to, your RESUME will be sent to more than 50 RECRUITERS (MARITIME & EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES) in Asia, Europe and USA.

We also write the ENGLISH version of your RESUME even if you are perfectly bilingual. The reason is simple. We know the requirements and the experience required by the MARITIME & EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES for each position in each department. So, we focus on what they want to see in order to maximize the employment chances for each CANDIDATE. We can have the most beautiful RESUME in the world but if it doesn’t meet their expectations it will be without any value. We focus on the elements of your RESUME that are most likely to meet the employers’ requirements.

The cost for our SERVICES (redaction or revision of your RESUME in English & sending your RESUME to the RECRUITERS) is $100.

When we take a CANDIDATE file, we need 2 weeks to send your RESUME to the RECRUITERS. When you receive our envelope after we have sent your RESUME to the RECRUITERS with all the documents already mentioned, you will deduce 2 things.

That your RESUME has already been sent to the RECRUITERS.
From the envelope receipt date, the waiting time until you get answers from the RECRUITERS is between 3 to 5 weeks.

When the RECRUITERS start to contact you, if you need to have more information on a RECRUITER or if you have doubts about what they are telling you, you can contact us at any time.

GENERAL INFORMATIONS

The CRUISES in the CARIBBEAN ISLANDS are for short periods. After each CRUISE, the CRUISE SHIP remains in its base for 1 to 3 days; because they need to clean it and prepare the CRUISE SHIP for the new PASSENGERS. During this time, you are off during the day and at the end of the day you return to sleep on the CRUISE SHIP.

If there are other POSITIONS TITLES for which you have an experience you can contact us to tell you the description and the requirements for these POSITIONS. If the requirements meet your experience, we will add these POSITIONS to the ones already pointed.

On each CRUISE SHIP, there are 3 groups of personnel. Each group has its own BAR and its own RESTAURANT. So, the CANDIDATES working in the BARS and RESTAURANTS can be recruited to work on either the CREW or the PASSENGERS side, which means that the chances to be recruited for the CANDIDATES working in theses departments are multiplied by two.

On the biggest CRUISE SHIPS there is always a SHOPPING MALL.

The highest recruitment on each CRUISE SHIP is in the following 3 departments: BARS, RESTAURANTS & BOUTIQUES.

A CRUISE SHIP of 3,000 PASSENGERS is the equivalent of a building having 17 floors. On a CRUISE SHIP with that many PASSENGERS there are 1,100 CREW MEMBERS; one CREW MEMBER for every 3 PASSENGERS.
